Overview
MIMIC (Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care) is a freely available medical database designed to support research. It provides de-identified data from intensive care units and emergency departments, including patient demographics, vital signs, laboratory results, medications, and clinical notes. MIMIC-IV is organized into modules like Core, Hosp, ICU, ED, CXR, and Note, each representing different data sources within the hospital system. The database architecture facilitates granular analysis of patient stays, allowing researchers to study various aspects of critical care, such as treatment effectiveness, disease progression, and resource utilization. Use cases range from developing predictive models to evaluating clinical workflows.
