Overview
Tor Browser is a free and open-source web browser designed to provide anonymity and privacy online. It operates by routing internet traffic through a volunteer-run, worldwide network of servers, known as Tor relays, effectively masking the user's IP address and location. This multi-layered encryption approach ensures that third-party trackers, advertisers, and surveillance systems cannot easily monitor browsing activity. Tor Browser isolates websites to prevent cross-site tracking, automatically clears cookies and browsing history upon session completion, and resists fingerprinting techniques. It allows users to access sites blocked by their home network and provides a secure and private browsing experience, protecting against censorship and surveillance. Developed by the Tor Project, a US-based nonprofit, the browser aims to advance human rights and online privacy.
